NOCO GB40 Boost Plus

Where do I start with this one? The NOCO Boost Plus GB40 is a 1000amp jump pack. Its small, lightweight and an absolute lifesaver. While it may be sort of a redundant item now that I have a dual battery system in my 4Runner, I refuse to take it out of my glovebox. That's really about all I can say about it. But it has already paid for itself a couple of time, mainly due to my own ignorance and not taking into account how much my amp drains my battery, but it has also got my wife's 4Runner going when her battery seemed to drain overnight for no apparent reason.

The GB40 is very simple to use, can be charged quickly and stored for an extended period with no apparent drop in its stored capacity. Advertising from NOCO states it will jump a battery up to 20 times before needing to be charged, features polarity protection and will even charge your USB devices if necessary.

In addition to its simplicity, ability to jump a dead battery multiple times and charge your USB powered devices, its also provides some lighting and safety features. Lights under the hood of your vehicle are great, until they don't work due to a dead battery. The GB40 provides 100 lumens of lighting that can be dimmed down by 50% and even 10%, an SOS, blink and strobe mode are also available. While 100 lumens doesn't seem overly exciting, its sufficient lighting will allow you to see what you're doing while prepping for a jump start, rummaging around your tent or even if working on your vehicle in a darker environment.

While I have yet to use the NOCO GB40 in a serious situation, the couple of times I have used it in my driveway it has performed well above my expectations. Simply plug in the leads which feature a nice heavy 8AWG set of cables, hook them up to your battery, turn the NOCO on and start your vehicle. Even if the first attempt fails, the NOCO can be left on the battery for 20-30 seconds to provide some additional power and will get the vehicle running quickly. I have been so impressed with the GB40, I will be purchasing a second to keep in our other 4Runner, and a third if we move forward with a new rig build.
